Reaching. Loving. Discipling.

What to Expect

Here is what you will likely experience when you visit the Kalkaska Church of the Nazarene. Most church services follow a format of prayer, song selections, and sermon. Our atmosphere is friendly and informal. Our congregation is more conservative, although you may hear a hardy amen occasionally. We love to fellowship with one another, sharing our hearts and lives. You will probably see people of all ages engaging in the lives of others before and after the service. When the church service begins, we join our hearts together to worship God for who He is and all that He means to us. Here are some details:

  • When you first enter our building, there is a greeter who will welcome you and answer any questions you might have.
  • Sunday School is at 9:45am-1030am. Morning worship begins at 10:45am and is about 1 hour long.
  • We have a blended style of contemporary and traditional worship in our Morning worship, both hymns and contemporary songs. We have a small volunteer worship team that leads us in congregational singing.
  • Offering plates are not passed and there is no obligation to give. If you have an offering, you want to give, it can be placed in the steeple of beautiful church at the back of the sanctuary either before or after the service. Giving can be done three ways: in person, mailed into church or online (see giving).
  • Communion is served the first Sunday of every other month and on special occasions throughout the year. The church of the Nazarene believes this sacrament is for all who have put their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and is not limited to members only.
  • Pastoral prayer time is open for prayer requests, praises and testimonials. After which the lead pastor brings these before the Lord as the body of believers join in silent reverence. The altar is always open for anyone wishing to draw closer to the Lord any time during the service.
  • Typical dress is casual, we invite all to come as they are.
  • Nursery and Children’s Church is available during the Sunday Morning worship for ages 0-7. Everyone who works with our children has undergone a background check, Nazarene safe video education, and has attended the church for a minimum of six months.
